Wow I just spent a glorious hour watching these 5 videos which make up the TV documentary of when The Osmonds toured the UK in 1973. I was 13 years old then and probably, like thousands of others, the ONLY important things to me were…
How can I get close to The Osmonds, can I get a ticket, will my parents let me go and how will I make sure that it’s me Donny picks when he is ready to wed (never mind that we were of different religions, resided in different countries, somehow, it would happen if I only wish it enough).
I was lucky enough to attend one of the Earls Court Concerts and one of the Rainbow theatre concerts (watching these videos I now realise, I was very lucky to even get a ticket for The Rainbow AND I didn’t even live in London!!). Earls Court I remember the most for the sheer volume of noise, not from The Osmonds but from the fans, I remember most of the time, I couldn’t hear them singing, it was that loud but I loved it none the less. I also remember that one because, after the concert I went to the pre-arranged spot where my older brother was going to pick me up (he was late) and whilst waiting there I was almost set upon by Bay City Roller fans, I managed to escape, phew!! If you want to hear more of that, let me know in the comments and I will do another post on it another time
So, as this, the last ever UK tour by The Osmonds nears it’s end.. take a trip down memory lane with this Documentary from 1973 – quick tip, have a box of tissues handy, you will need them for so many reasons.
